Chiropractic Torrance CA Adjustments

A chiropractic adjustments in Torrance is a therapeutic procedure commonly used for lower back pain, headaches, and neck pain. Also known as spinal manipulation, chiropractic manipulation, or manual manipulation, a chiropractic adjustment aims to reduce subluxation, or the slight misalignment of the vertebrae, while helping improve function and range of motion, and reducing nerve irritability.

A chiropractic adjustment involves the use of manipulation to a spinal joint with abnormal function or unusual movement patterns. Chiropractors use their hands (and sometimes small instruments) to apply sudden yet controlled pressure to a spinal joint.

Preparation for a chiropractic adjustment
You won’t need to make any special preparation before getting a chiropractic adjustment.

Getting an adjustment may require several visits. The frequency of your visits depends on your condition, so it is recommended you prepare your schedule to anticipate regular visits for a couple of weeks or more.

What can I expect during a chiropractic adjustment?
On your first visit, expect the chiropractor to ask you a few questions regarding your symptoms, medical history, previous accidents, and so on. He or she will then perform a physical exam while focusing on your spine in particular. Other tests or examinations such as x-rays may be recommended.

During a chiropractic adjustment, expect your chiropractor to place you in different positions in order for him or her to treat the affected areas. Chances are, you’ll be spending a bit of time lying face down on a special chiropractic table. By using his or her hands, your chiropractor will apply sudden, controlled force to one of your joints, shifting it outside its normal range of motion. At times, you might hear unusual cracking or popping sounds as your chiropractor manipulates your joints during treatment.

After the chiropractic adjustment
After getting a chiropractic adjustment, other beneficial treatment methods that enhance your chiropractic adjustment may be recommended by your chiropractor. Some of these approaches include exercise, massage therapy, stretching, heat and ice, electrical stimulation, and more.

There are some people who experience a few side effects after the first couple of days. These side effects may include fatigue, headache, and pain and soreness in the treated area.

While chiropractic adjustments can be highly effective in treating low back pain, headaches, neck pain, and other spine-related issues, it’s important to note that not everyone responds to the treatment.
